Chapter 2: A Boy Named Luke[]

Layton asked the goon by the hotel if he knew where the Gilded 7 Casino was. The goon told him off for taking Luke there with him, also advising that he should avoid the place altogether. After learning from Becky that the goons change posts quite regularly each day, they use this information to reach the casino when the good guarding the future Midland Road leaves for his next round. Later, at the casino, several goons were ordered by Bostro and his cronies to search the casino for Layton, Luke and the future Luke. Using sub-machine guns, they shot aimlessly around the casino. They were all eventually defeated by Layton with his makeshift slot machine gun.

Chapter 3: The Enigmatic Future[]

While on their way to Chinatown, Layton and Luke hear from Cuthbert that a large number of goons are in the vicinity.

Bostro yells at the goon to ‘Get lost!’ and the parrot mimics him to convince the guards to leave their post. After learning that the Future Professor Layton is not in the Towering Pagoda, the foursome ask the residents of Chinatown if they know where he could have gone. They have the opportunity to ask a goon in Pepper’s Noodle Palace if he has any information, but he will refuse to help.

Trivia[]

  • The goons' love for puzzles and the jackets they wear are likely meant to emulate Layton's personality and attire.
  • In the cutscene in Unwound Future where Layton and Future Luke attack them with a makeshift coin gun made out of slot machine parts, the goons react to being hit by the coins in an uncanny way. Unlike Bostro and the Family's other higher-ups, who scream, cower, and ultimately run from the coins, the goons simply fall to the ground with their guns in their hands. And while the goons audibly scream from being hit by the coins, their mouths don't open, and their facial expressions don't change. It's unknown if this was an animation error, or intentionally done to hint that they are inhuman in some way.
