Giuseppe is a minor character in Professor Layton and the Curious Village. He works as a butcher at the market at the north side of St Mystere.

Biography[]

Appearance[]

Giuseppe is a large man with light brown hair, moustache so long that it covers his face, and eyebrows so large that they conceal his eyes. He wears an orange sweater with a white apron, khaki trousers, dark brown boots, and a flat blue cap.

Personality[]

Giuseppe is a butcher who seems to take pride in both his meats and his puns. He is possibly the only person who finds his jokes funny, which seems to bother him to some degree, as seen when Layton and Luke uncomfortably walked away while he used puns to try to sell them some sausages.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village[]

Giuseppe first made an appearance at the market during the evening, standing beside his stall which was already packed away for the night. He warned Layton and Luke about a kidnapper that had been sighted around the village and urged them to stay safe, especially past sunset.

CV 5 Giuseppe hands Layton a Vase

The next day, Giuseppe stopped Layton in the market to return a flower vase he'd supposedly been keeping safe for him. Layton explained that it wasn't his at all, which confused Giuseppe since he'd been given explicit instructions by another man to give the vase to Layton. When Layton asked for a description of the man's appearance, Giuseppe was unable to remember many details, only recalling that the man had definitely been an outsider. He also shared a rumour that there was someone living in the tower that loomed over the village.

The vase Giuseppe briefly handed to Layton was later used to frame Layton for Simon's murder, and the man who had given Giuseppe the vase in the first place was revealed to be Don Paolo.

As the town butcher, Giuseppe's steaks are top notch, but he's best known for his cringe-worthy jokes and puns. His sense of humour is said to have come from his creator, Bruno.
