Ancient Crest (Lake Bottom Crest in the UK version) is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Last Specter. The puzzle must be solved in order to progress the story.
This puzzle is chock-full of riddles. Try taking them apart one by one.
Which of the emblems along the rim of the crest refer to the "four fruits"? Try touching a few of them to see what happens.
If you do it right, the sleeping birds will awaken with a glow.
UK Version
All the clues you need to solve the puzzle are in the poem.
First are the "four fruits". There are many depictions of fruit along the rim of the crest, but which ones does the poem refer to? Try touching a few and see what happens.
If you do it correctly, the birds should wake up.
US Version
Did you wake the birds? If so, try petting them. You might notice a change. The poem says they will "dance," so you can expect them to move in some way.

US Version
The final part of this puzzle involves the "bird of illusion" and the "sun."
Of course, you can't always see an illusion with the naked eye. Manipulate the dancing birds to form the image of a bird with the sun above it.
UK Version
Think about the "bird of illusion" and the "sun". The bird is described as an illusion, so maybe you can't see it all the time.
The sun, too, doesn't seem to be immediately visible. Perhaps it only appears once the birds are "dancing".
US Version
Use the stylus to move each bird into such a position that its inside border helps to form the silhouette of a bird kissing the sun above.
You're very close now. Step into the light!
UK Version
After waking the birds, move them so that their inside borders form the outline of a bird silhouette kissing the sun above it.
