UK Version

In the end she only has one flower, so when she met the fifth person she must have been holding three flowers and given two away.

When she met the fourth person, she still had seven flowers.

As she ran into the third person, there were 15 flowers left in the bunch.

US Version

Continuing backward one meeting at a time, you can work out that the girl hat 31 flowers just before she bumped into the second person.
