Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

US Version

The gentleman isn't referring to the faces painted on the vases. Try taking a look from farther away.

UK Version

The man's looking at more than just the faces painted on the vases.

Take a step back and look again.

US Version

Try rotating the vases and looking at them from a few different angles. That might help you find what the gentleman is talking about.

UK Version

Don't just keep staring at the vases, try flipping them over in your mind. That might make the correct ones stand out.

US Version

There's one vase that matches the gentleman's profile perfectly if you look at its contour.

UK Version

There's one vase that has contours which match the man's profile exactly...

US Version

Look at each vase upside down. See the silhouette created by the empty space along the contour? One of the vases matches the gentleman's profile exactly.

UK Version

You're not looking at just the vases that are a little plump like the man, are you?

Don't just look at the vases' contours. Think about what would fit into them.

See, the silhouette matches perfectly.

Solution

Incorrect

US Version

Too bad!

Compare each vase to the gentleman's appearance, and see if you can find anything in common.

UK Version

Too bad.

Compare the vases with the man and think again about the puzzle.

Correct

US Version

Correct!

He picked vase A. If you turn it upside down and look at the profile as shown above, it matches the wealthy gentleman perfectly, right down to the sizable belly!

UK Version

That's right!

It was vase A.
Turn it upside down and look at the contours. They fit the man's profile perfectly!
