Puzzle

US Version

"I wonder if you can solve this riddle.

"I've folded up my dear old aprons in three different ways. It makes the flower pattern look different each time, see?

"Can you tell me what the pattern will look like when I unfold the apron?"

UK Version

"I wonder if you can solve this riddle.

I've folded up my dear old aprons in three different ways. It makes the flower pattern look different each time, see?

All you have to do is tell me what the pattern will look like when I unfold the apron!"

Look at the images A, B and C above and put the flowers on the apron.

Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

Pay close attention to the positions of the apron straps and the way they're facing.

If you're wondering why some of the apron straps look darker, it's because you're looking at the back of them.

The part of the apron shown in A overlaps with the part shown in B.

B is larger, so first consider which part of the apron this might depict.

With any luck, you should be able to work out which part of the apron A depicts without trouble!

Look carefully at B. If you think about the apron straps as described in Hint 1, it should become clear that the top half of the apron is folded underneath.

What you can see here is the bottom half of the apron, which means you now have half of the pattern.

You can find out the rest of the flowers pattern by looking at C.

C shows what the apron would look like if you folded it along the diagonal line that runs from the top right to the bottom left and tucked the bottom-right half under.

It's still facing the same way, so you can add this to the details you got from B to form a complete picture of the pattern.

Solution

Incorrect

Too bad.

There must be something that can help you to identify each part of the apron...

Correct

US Version

"That's my boy!

"This is what the pattern looks like. When the apron is folded up, you can tell which part you're looking at by where the apron straps are and the direction they point.

"I do like the haphazard way the flowers are arranged!"

UK Version

"Right you are!

This is what the pattern looks like. When the apron is folded up, you can tell which part you're looking at by where the apron straps are and the direction they point.

I do like the haphazard way the flowers are arranged!"
