You can make a lot of swaps that result in similar patterns.

US Version

Swap out the person labeled C...but with whom?

UK Version

One of the people you will need to swap is C. See if you can work out for yourself who to swap C with.

US Version

The new pattern you must create is female, female, female, male, female, male, male.

The order will also be the same if you only count every fourth person. Once you make your swap, try counting it off.

US Version

You just need to swap C and D. That way you'll get the same male-female pattern counting every person, every second person, and every fourth person too!

Did you notice that you also get that same pattern if you start from A and count every third person of every fifth person going counterclockwise?

UK Version

You just need to swap C and D. That way you'll get the same male-female pattern counting every person, every second person and every fourth person, too!

Did you notice that you also get that same pattern if you start from A and count every third person or every fifth person going anticlockwise?
