UFO SOS is a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Last Specter.

Puzzle

US Version

"One day, I saw a spacecraft hanging motionless in the sky right above me. 'Must be engine trouble,' I thought.

The solution was simple. All I had to do was move the spacecraft's energy ball from the left to the right, and it was as good as new!

Think you can do the same?"

UK Version

"I once helped out a flying saucer, back when I was young. I was quite the catch then, you know.

I was stargazing in my garden one night and saw a spacecraft floating by me. It must have been having engine trouble, I reckon.

Anyway, I just moved its energy ball from the left to the right and it was all fixed! You think you could do the same?"

Hints

Click a Tab to reveal the Hint.

US Version

The flying saucer can be fixed with a minimum of 31 moves.

First, move down the two ▜ on the right. Then line up the two ■ shapes in the top-right corner of the ship.

UK Version

The flying saucer can be fixed in as few as 31 moves.

First, move down the two ▜ on the right. Then line up the two ■ in the top-right corner of the ship.

US Version

Continuing from Hint 1: Collect all four ▜ in the middle row, moving the two ■ shapes to the left and right as needed.

UK Version

Following on from Hint 1, collect all four ▜ in a row in the middle, moving the ■ left and right as required.

US Version

Once all four of the ▜ are in a row in the middle, return both ■ shapes to the top-right corner.

After that, try to maneuver the red ▜ into the bottom-right space and move all of the other ▜ to the far right. This will give you the room you need to move the energy ball into the top-left corner.

UK Version

Once all four of the ▜ are in a row in the middle, move both ■ back to the top-right. After that, try to get the red ▜ into the space in the bottom-right and move all the other ▜ to the right so that you can move the energy ball to the top-left.

US Version

Slide the light-blue ▜ into the bottom-left section.

Then slide the dark-blue ▜ into the indention on the left-hand side. Gather the two ■ shapes in the middle row, and move the energy ball to the top-right corner. Slide the two ■ shapes to the top left, and move the red and yellow ▜ to the left-hand side. Almost there!

UK Version

Continuing from Hint 3, leave the red and yellow ▜ in the bottom-right of the ship and place the light blue ▜ in the space in the bottom-left. Then nestle the blue ▜ into the indentation on the left-hand side. After that, gather the two ■ in the middle and move the energy ball to the top-right. Now gather the two ■ in the top-left and move the red and yellow ▜ to the left-hand side. That leaves you with one final step!

Solution

Correct

Out of this world!

"Yep, I did it just like that. Watching you reminds me of my sprightly younger days."

US Version

"Mr. Layton, is any of this true?"

"It does seem to be a rather unusual story, doesn't it, Luke?"

UK Version

"Mr Layton, is any of this true?"

"It does seem to be a rather...unusual story, doesn't it, Luke?"
