[A title card fades in with the words: “それはゲームから始まった” (It started as a game)]

Luke: (voice over) It started as a game.

[“Flashback”: The first 3 games of the Professor Layton franchise. 4 cutscenes of Professor Layton and the Curious Village play simultaneously. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future follow suit.]

Luke: (voice over) Since then, Professor Layton has had many exciting adventures, selling 7.3 million copies to fans all over the world.

[Caption: “レイトン教授 セカンドシーズン“ (Professor Layton Second Season). Flashback of Professor Layton and the Last Specter with 4 cutscenes from the game.]

Luke: (voice over) Today, we visit one of the Professor's earliest most intriguing investigations. With his apprentice number 1, Luke. That's me by the way.

[Caption: “物語は、ゲームから映画へ...” (A story, from game to movie...)]

Luke: (voice over): As Professor Layton, makes the lead from game.. to movie…

[Scene: Set after the events of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. We are inside a dark room facing a brown brick wall. A flashlight clicks and its light illuminates the wall with Professor Layton's silhouette in the middle.]

Layton: Luke, I think I finally got to the bottom of this mystery.

[Layton walks to Luke and points his flashlight at him.]

Luke: I can't see a solution Professor. [The flashlight is pointed at his face and he shields his face from the light.] Uh, now I can't.. see at all.

Layton: Our villain, escaped through this room.

Luke: [turns on his flashlight] But.. there's no way out of here.

Layton: [chuckles] Remember, this case began with the impossible.

[Layton points his flashlight at a green door with metal bars and some cogs. Luke is looking down from the balcony pointing his flashlight at a huge structure of cogs.]

Layton: That letter threatened that the bell would be silenced. But it wasn't the bell that vanished, it was its sound.

[Layton points his flashlight at a heavy metal tile in a shape of a sun fitted into the ground.]

Layton: The clue to this room was written [blows the dust off the sun tile] at the tower entrance. [He picks up the sun tile.] “The stars and planets align. You will see your way”.

Luke: But, what's the answer Professor?

[Layton fits the sun tile onto the green door. He then lifts the moon shaped tile out from the ground whilst Luke watches.]

Layton: Now listen. A true gentleman, must always be patient Luke.

Luke: Uh-huh.

[Layton fits the moon tile onto the green door. The star shaped tile is already in place.]

Layton: People have long watched the stars and planets move together.

Luke: So Professor, the answer is in the stars. [He points his flashlight at Layton's face.]

Layton: Yes, in a manner of speaking.

[The sun, moon and star tiles are now connected and start moving simultaneously on the door. The cogs all around the room are moving and a rumbling noise is made. The door unlocks and opens with a bright light from the outside. Luke drops his flashlight in surprise as Layton smiles. Luke runs out the door and Layton follows.]

Luke: Woah! But this is…

[Layton and Luke are revealed to be standing on the London Clock Tower. The bell tolls and 2 white birds fly away from the tower. The camera zooms out to the vast land of London: Lots of buildings with red and green coloured roofs and bridges over a wide canal.]

Luke: (voice over) And so it was. The Professor Layton solved another mystery. One that had puzzled all of London.

[Scene: The camera pans from a crowd of people to London Bridge. On London Bridge, Layton walks whilst Luke, Flora Reinhold and the Scotland Yard brigade including Inspector Chelmey and Barton, and unknown townspeople watch him.]

Layton: The only one who could have silenced that bell.. [He turns around and points at a short elderly woman.] is you!

[The woman removes a mask and costume to reveal Don Paolo underneath holding an umbrella.]

Don Paolo: Layton, you'll pay for this!

[Paolo throws his mask on the ground and runs to the edge of the bridge. Luke is startled and dodges the mask. Flora looks surprised.]

Luke: Don Paolo!

[Paolo climbs onto the railing of the bridge and jumps off, opening his umbrella to activate a flower-shaped propellor whilst sneering.]

Layton: [runs past Luke and stops at Flora] Luke!

Luke: [running past Layton and Flora] Right!

Layton: Flora, you stay here. [Layton runs off.]

Flora: Professor!

Chelmey: After him!

Barton: Right, come on!

[Chelmey, Barton and the Scotland Yard brigade get into their police cars. They drive past Layton and Luke who are running.]

[Scene: A snapshot transition of the front page of a newspaper on Layton's desk with the headline: Prof. Layton magically cleared a “mystery” fog in London. Layton is working away at the bones of a dinosaur at night time.]

Luke: (voice over) Once again, the Professor made the front page of The London Times. But the Professor is not just a brilliant puzzle solver. He is also an eminent archaeologist! Archaeologist, puzzle solver, and, true gentleman.

[Layton stretches]

[Scene: Day time. Luke runs to Gressenheller University.]

Luke (voice over): I'm Luke, his apprentice. [Luke checks the university letterbox and sorts out the letters.] I handle the Professor's letters, requesting him to solve puzzles.

[Scene: Layton is sitting on a sofa in his office with a cup of tea. Luke runs up to Layton, pulls out a small notebook from his satchel and talks to him.]

Luke: (voice over) I also make tea. And tidy up. Because the Professor never has time.

[Scene: Luke waters the flower beds with a watering can outside the lecture theatre that Layton is lecturing in. A white cat from behind on a windowsill leaps onto the flower bed, sits down and meows. Luke is startled, but smiles and talks to it.]

Luke: (voice over) My special talent, is that I can talk to animals. Sort of.

[Scene: The lecture theatre is full of students and Layton is standing out the front with a table full of artefacts and  lecturing using a blackboard.]

Luke: (voice over) I've been the Professor's apprentice for a while now. I'm learning to solve puzzles like the Professor.

[Scene: It is snowing. Luke, wearing earmuffs and scarf, and Layton in a huge coat are standing near a bus stop. Townspeople walk past them. Luke warms his hands up with his breath and Layton breath is visible when he breathes out.]

Luke: (voice over) And I hope that one day, I too will be a true gentleman.

[Scene: Inside Layton's office. Luke is acting like Layton deducing a mystery. He walks away with his back facing us.]

Luke: The one who holds the key to this mystery.. [He turns around and points to the camera.] is you! [He points to a wall.] It's you! [He points to a top corner of the room.] It's you!

[Layton enters his office holding a square object and looks at Luke. Luke, in a deep contemplating pose, is unaware of Layton. Luke turns around and points at Layton without realising and Layton is startled.]

Luke: Hmm.. You- (flustered) Uh.. uh it's you that uh, tidy up next.

Layton: [chuckles] Luke, do you remember this song?

[Layton walks over to the gramophone, takes out a vinyl disc from the music cover he was holding and plays it. “The Eternal Diva” sung by Janice Quatlane plays. Luke walks over to Layton.]

Luke: Isn't that the.. one Janice used to sing?

Layton: Yes. [He hands Luke the vinyl cover of Janice's song. The cover is titled “The Eternal Diva” and has Janice featured on the front with her signature.]

Luke: I can't believe it's 3 years since that case.

[Scene: Janice is singing at an opera concert.]

Luke: (voice over) Janice Quatlane was the Professor's student before becoming a famous opera singer. One day, she sent a letter and some tickets. [An image of the letter and tickets appear over the scene of Janice.]

[Scene: Flashback to 3 years ago. Luke and Layton are sitting in an opera theater. Luke picks up the envelope and looks at it.]

Luke: (voice over) That letter pulled us into a complicated mystery, that would take all our wits to solve.

[Luke and Layton look at each other and then back to the stage.]

[Title Card: “映画:レイトン教授と永遠の歌姫 The Eternal Diva” (Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva)]

[Scene: Night time. Outside the bright and colourfully lit opera house. Inside, it is vast with many artefacts, statues and gold colours. The doors to the theater open to show Janice singing and performing. Janice in a queen's costume walks down the stairs to the front of the stage. The stage performers acting as townspeople around Janice bow down to her in respect. Janice sings her final note of a movement in the opera, and the next movement begins. The music horns in sight belong to an instrument that Oswald Whistler is sitting and playing. A photo frame with a picture of a girl is on the instrument. The opera theater is full of people.]

[Scene: Layton and Luke are watching the opera as Layton turns to Luke]

Layton: (whispering) Luke, that instrument is Oswald Whistler's new Detragon. [The camera pans up to show the many instruments of the Detragon.] They say it allows one musician to play music as rich as a whole orchestra. Hm, and I must say, it is very beautiful.

Luke: (whispering) Not as beautiful as Janice's voice Professor.

[Janice is now dancing as the stage performers look at her in amazement.]

Janice: (voice over) Dear Professor, I need your help. Something astonishing has happened recently. And I don't know who else to turn to.

[Scene: It is raining in London. Janice is walking on the streets in the rain.]

Janice: (voice over) Melina Whistler, a friend of mine who died last year, came to speak to me.

[Janice stops and looks behind her. A little girl is now standing in front of her. Janice is shocked.]

Janice: (voice over) In a body of a 7 year old girl.

[Scene: Janice is sitting with the girl in a café.]

Janice: (voice over) I know this sounds impossible, but.. the girl knows things, only Melina and I could know. When I asked her if this was possible, she told me,

Little Girl: "I had been given the gift of eternal life, Janice." [She smiles.]

[Scene: Sunset. The Laytonmobile is travelling past the fields of London. Emmy Altava is driving, Layton is in the passenger's seat and Luke is in the back.]

Luke: Professor, do you believe this girl could really have eternal life?

Layton: [reading a book] I don't know Luke. But, the key to all of this could be at the theater we've been invited to.

Emmy: Then let's hurry.

[Emmy presses down on the acceleration pedal as the Laytonmobile speeds up and overtakes a truck, veering off the road. Emmy's wreckless driving causes Luke to be thrown about in his seatbelt. Emmy shifts the gears; however Layton is not bothered by this, but tries to keep his top hat on his head whilst reading. The Laytonmobile slows down and Luke sighs in relief. Luke, lying dazed on the seat from the fast driving quickly snaps back into position and adjusts his hat.]

Luke: Please be more careful Emmy!

Emmy: You'd better get used to this sort of thing. [wagging her finger] If you want to be Professor Layton's.. [She looks back at Luke.] second assistant.

Luke: Second assistant?! [He tries to struggle out of his seat but manages to lunge out at Emmy's driver seat with his seatbelt still on.] I am not his second assistant!

Emmy: Oh. [scoffs] You are not?

Luke: I am his APPRENTICE! [Luke lets go of the seat and the seatbelt retracts him back to his seat. He crosses his arms.] And, I am his apprentice.. [points out his index finger] number 1!

Emmy: [laughs] Did the Professor say that to you?

Luke: [nervous and tries to act innocent] Umm. sort of. Err..

Layton: Emmy, how is your research going?

Emmy: Well, it appears that it's not only this girl who was talking about eternal life. London is full of rumours and stories. They say with enough money and the right connection, you can buy the gift of eternal life.

[The Laytonmobile waits for the sheep to cross the road and turns at a junction.]

Layton: Eternal life? [He looks at the book.] The Eternal Kingdom.

Luke: What's the Eternal Kingdom?

Layton: [looks back at Luke] It's the title of the opera Janice is starring in.

Emmy: It is the past opera Oswald Whistler has written in.. years.

Luke: [flipping through his notebook] Oswald.. Whistler. Whistler.. I knew it! Janice's friend Melina, was called Whistler! Oswald Whistler and Melina Whistler!

Layton: [handing Luke the book he was holding] Melina was Oswald Whistler's daughter.

[Luke opens to the first page with the photos of Melina (who was in the photograph sitting on Oswald's Detragon), Oswald and Janice with their names underneath.]

Luke: (reading aloud) "I dedicate this opera to the memory of my daughter, Melina." Oh Professor look! That's Dr. Schrader!

[There's a photo of Dr. Andrew Schrader holding an aged sheet of paper with Oswald standing beside him.]

Layton: But of course. The opera is based on the legend of Ambrosia, the Eternal Kingdom. My old mentor Dr. Schrader is an expert on Ambrosia.

[The Laytonmobile drives down a hill and to the opera house.]

Layton: But the only proof he's ever found is part of Ambrosia's sea. The kingdom is such a mystery, no one even knows where it was.

[The Laytonmobile silently screeches to a halt as it parks behind a car in front of the opera house.]

Luke: [writing in his notebook] The Eternal Kingdom.. Ambrosia..

[Scene: Layton and Emmy get out of the Laytonmobile.]

Layton: Continue your research Emmy.

Emmy: [snaps a photo with her camera] Of course I will, Professor.

[Luke walks up to Layton.]

Luke: What a strange looking theater.

Layton: Perhaps it is supposed to represent Ambrosia.

[Lights illuminate above Layton and Luke and around the opera house.]

Luke: What's the legend about Professor?

Layton: It is said that that the kingdom was once ruled by a beautiful queen who loved music above all else. The people of the kingdom adored their queen.

[Scene: Janice is dancing on stage as the queen with the other performers. The lighting turns red and the queen falls onto the ground]

Layton: But one day, she fell terribly ill.

[Luke gasps. The people are around the queen's coffin mourning over her death. A person raises a bottle of liquid. Amelia Ruth watches the opera in shock.]

Layton: But the people tried everything to save her. But they did not succeed. The queen died just as a remedy was discovered. The elixir of eternal life. The people mourned the queen they had failed to save. They decided to drink the elixir of eternal life.

[The people are holding bottles of elixirs and drink them. An unknown dark figure and a wolf watch the opera from behind the curtains backstage. They both disappear back in.]

Layton: They will live forever and wait for their queen to be returned. Reborn. For those who believe Ambrosia still exists, hidden somewhere awaiting for their queen to return. But no one knows the truth. But the kingdom has never been found.

[The stage lights dim down to a black. A spotlight shines on stage and the queen rises from a hole in the stage ground. The opera finishes and the spotlight turns off. Complete silence in the theatre. Luke is in awe of the performance but everyone else around him has a neutral expression. The lights of the opera theatre turn back on. Luke realizes the opera has ended and he stands up from his seat. Layton also stands up and both applaud.]

Luke: Bravo!

[Pierre Starbuck (scratching inside his ear), Celia Raidley (slowly clapping), Curtis O'Donnell (asleep) and some of the audience members are clapping, but look neutral, and the rest are not applauding. The opera theater is very quiet. Luke is looking around the audience in confusion.]

Luke: Professor! Why aren't people clapping?

[The lights of the opera theater suddenly turn off. The spotlight is now shining on a masked man standing before the audience on stage.]

Masked Man: Ladies and gentlemen! [He bows] Welcome, to my theater, the Crown Patone. You are truly fortunate. For tonight, you will witness a miracle.

[The audience is now applauding, cheering and smiling.]

Marco: Bravo!

Celia: Finally, what I've been waiting to hear.

Frederick: [stroking his beard] I tell you it's a miracle I stayed to wait this long.

Masked Man: As was promised when you purchased your tickets, tonight, one person from the audience gathered here will receive.. the gift of eternal life.

Luke: The gift of eternal life?

[Layton sits back in his seat and so does Luke.]

Layton: It would seem that we were the only ones who didn't know about this.

Masked Man: However, there is one condition.

Curtis: What condition?

Masked Man: All of you gathered here that are going to play a little game. The rules are simple. The prize for the lucky winner... eternal life.  But those of you who lose, will lose your lives.

Marco: Our lives? What's going on?

Masked Man: You must admit, this is a small risk, for those desiring such a big prize.

Annie: Eternal life, instant death. Well, what a twist. How ingenious.

Old Man: (sitting next to Annie and shaking) You can't be serious. We're all going to put up with this?

Frederick: [stroking his beard] Speak for yourself. I've only got 6 months to live. Yoo-hoo, I'll play your game. I'll play whatever you want.

Woman: This is just terrible. Let me through!

[The woman runs away from her seat. The audience scrambles out of their seat in fear screaming. As the audience tries to get out the door, the performers in their costumes from the opera remove their costume to reveal that they are also wearing masks and working with the Masked Man. The audience gasps. Hidden trapdoors in the aisles of the seats open up and everyone standing on it falls into a deep hole and scream. The trapdoors close and audience members are still standing near their seats]

Luke: Professor!

[Layton starts running down the aisles to the stage and Luke follows. Inspector Clamp Grosky is also running in the same direction. Grosky leaps up the stairs to the stage and handcuffs the Masked Man. Layton stops in his tracks.]

Grosky: Fear not! [He flashes his Police ID.] I am Inspector Grosky of the Yard. My finely honed investigation showed something suspicious would happen in this theater tonight. And I am here to put a stop to it. Ladies and gentlemen, no one will lose their lives. I, Inspector Grosky of the Yard have arrested this diabolical criminal.

Layton: Are you quite sure of that.. Inspector?

Grosky: I say Layton, is that you?

Layton: [tips his hat] At your service.

Grosky: [looks at Luke] Who is your little friend?

Luke: Luke Triton!

[The Masked Man begins to deflate]

Grosky: What? A puppet?!

Luke: Professor, the roof!

[The puppet inflates and lifts Grosky up in the air]

Layton: Inspector!

[The puppet hits a sharp opening from the ceiling causing it to fly Grosky away]

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen, without further interruption, let us begin our journey to eternal life!

Layton: Luke!

Luke: Coming!

Layton: The theatre...

Luke: It's really a huge ship!

Frederick: What's happening?

Pierre: Does he think he can trap us?

Curtis: We're already at sea.

[Pierre junps on the side of the ship]

Celia: What are you doing? Can you see a way out?

Pierre: I know what I'm doing. I am swimming back.

Layton: I'm not sure that's altogether wise.

[He points at the water causing Pierre to look. Celia is shocked to find lots of sharks around the ship, they all have some sort of device on their noses]

Curtis: Very strange. You don't often see sharks. Well, not in these waters.

[Somewhere at an entrance to the ship, the Little Girl is singing]

Little Girl: I can go home at last.

[Grosky manages to get back on the ship]

Grosky: Not even out of breath. Nice try, sharks. [hears the singing and arrives at the place where she was] Where is she? Did you fall, little girl?

[She hides behind a pillar; Meanwhile, Oscar stands up a picture of Melina]

Oscar: Don't worry. Just leave everything to me. I'll play... For you, who so loved music. [gets worried when another lamp on the Detragan goes out, but decides to play it. Everybody hears it, including Grosky]

Little Girl: I want to go home! [pushes Grosky back into the ocean]

Pierre: [arriving back at the theater] What are you doing? Someone's after our lives and you play music?

Celia: We are sailing out to sea and there are... sharks all around us. [Oscar stops playing]

Frederick: Mr. Whistler, you're the one behind this opera. Tell me, did you also plan this deadly game?

Oscar: [sincere] I was asked to compose an opera. That is all.

Frederick: [skeptical] Hmph! So, you say.

Luke: Mmm. What should we do, Professor?

Janice: [coming out] Professor!

Layton: Janice.

Janice: I'm sorry, Professor. I never dreamed anything like this would happen. Really, I didn't.

Layton: Please don't apologize. Is it not the duty of every true gentleman... to help a lady in need?

Janice: Oh, you haven't changed at all.

Layton: Where is the little girl from your letter?

Janice: I haven't seen her since this morning. I've asked Mr. Whistler, but well, he said concentrate on my performance.

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen. Now we are all passengers together on the Crown Petone. It's time for our little puzzle-solving game to begin.

Amelia: Puzzle-solving?

Marco: Game?

Voice: The rules are very simple. The winner, meaning the last player left, receives eternal life.

Layton: Professor?

Luke: I don't see that any of us have a choice but to play the game, Luke.

Voice: Let us begin. Puzzle No. 001. Look around you, ladies and gentlemen. Look for the oldest thing you can see and gather by it. Sounds simple, but there is a catch. [some kind of music box appears and starts playing] When the music stops, your time is up. If you want Eternal Life, then there's no time to lose. [everybody starts leaving the theatre to look]

Luke: The oldest thing we can see. Professor, let's look.

Layton: Yes.

Janice: I'll come too.

Layton: Of course.

[the people look around, the ship includes fish skeletons, crystals, and old paintings containing old things]

Man 1: What about this?

Man 2: That's a fish?

Man 3: It's a fossil, you buffoon?

Luke: Professor, the ship is full of antiques. The answer could be anything here. [time is running out] So, which one is it?

[the professor goes into deep thought; images of the antiques appear in the background]

Luke in Layton's head: This ship is full of antiques. The answer could be anything.

Voice in Layton's head: Look for the oldest thing you can see.

Layton: [realizes the answer] Ha, I've got it. Come on. Let's go back to the theatre.

[they get back there]

Luke: Professor.

Layton: Think back to what he said on the first question. [Luke gets out his notebook] He told us, we were to look for the oldest thing we could see, but he did not say the oldest thing on the ship.

Luke: That's right, he didn't say that, did he, Professor?

Layton: That's because the answer to this puzzle is not on the ship.

Janice: Then, where is it?

Layton: The oldest thing we can see... is the sky with its stars, billions of years old.

Luke: Of course! As brilliant as always, Professor!

[the music stops]

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen, your time is up. The oldest thing you can see are the stars above you. To those of you in theatre, congratulations. You can continue.

Marco: [under his breath] Yes!

Voice: But for those of you who got it wrong...

[everyone who isn't in the theatre get surrounded by the same masked people from before. Trapdoors open up from below them and they scream as they fall into a deep hole. Back in the theatre the music box flips over to reveal another sheet of paper]

Voice: Let us proceed to Puzzle No. 002. Now, go to where you can see the largest crown.

Amelia: The largest crown?

Curtis: Heh. This is hardly a competition if keeps gathering us all together.

Celia: Ugh! There are hundreds of crowns on display all over this silly little ship. There is no way we can compare all of them in the time we have.

Man 4: She is right. There is no time.

Young Woman: Maybe all the crowns are red herrings.

Janice: ... Professor can you find the answer?

Layton: I wonder...

Luke: Professor! I think you should just leave this one to me.

Janice: Luke?

Luke: Don't worry, Janice. I'm the Professor's apprentice no. 1.

Janice: That's quite the apprentice you have.

Luke: [draws a crown in his notebook] The biggest crown... Crown... A crown...

Flashback voice: Now, we are all passengers together on the Crown Petone.

Luke: Yes! That's it! the ship we are on is the Crown Petone!

Frederick: Well done, my boy! I remember seeing there was a big crown in the entrance where we came in. On the sign with the theatre's name on it.

Man 4: Yes. A great big one.

Young Woman: Come on. That must be it. [leaves the theatre with everyone else]

Luke: Professor, come on. Let's go. [Layton, Luke, and Janice are walking through a hallway] Is everyone else in the entrance?

Janice: But the entrance is the other way, isn't it?

Luke: [worried] Professor, we are going the wrong way. We have to go back.

Layton: This way is fine, Luke.

Luke: But...

Layton: The crown at the entrance is also a red herring. [Luke looks surprised] He knew after the first puzzle we would look for trick questions. He hoped once we'd seen the small crowns weren't the answer, we would go to the entrance instead. But that is also a trick.

Luke: But why make it so difficult?

Layton: There can only be one winner at the end. So, the puzzles he sets can't be too easy. He has to try and throw us off the scent. By putting a trick in the first puzzle and gathering us together, He wanted to make us think this answer would be the same.

Luke: Ugh, this is making my head hurt.

Layton: Don't worry. You will see soon enough.

[the camera zooms out revealing that the entire ship resembles a crown; the group sees several other contestants getting ready to go into life boats; Marco almost falls when pulling the crank]

Curtis: Careful. Stand back. I will do it. Leave it all to me.

Marco: You've done this before?

Curtis: I've spent some time at sea as captain of a merchant ship, don't you know. Curtis O'Donnell's the name. Come. We should hurry.

Janice: Mr. Whistler?

Oscar: Janice. [everyone looks at the little girl behind him who hides] My adopted daughter, Melina.

Frederick: [to Layton] It appears you solved this puzzle too.

Layton: Yes.

Pierre: Now everyone done turn up.

Luke: But you said crown in the entrance was the right answer.

Frederick: The more fools go the wrong way, the quicker I get my hands on Eternal Life.

Luke: Eh?

Frederick: And I really wish you would stop giving out hints to everyone else.

Layton: Let's help.

Luke: What hints?

Janice: [to the little girl] Melina, where did you disappear to?

Little girl: Why? Why did you bring the Professor?

Janice: Melina?

Little girl: He musn't win this game! Are you Melina's friend or not? Please, let us have our wish.

Janice: Our wish?

[the lifeboats are now in the ocean]

Luke: But where are we going?

Marco: We are going to where we can see the biggest crown, of course.

Luke: But I can't see a crown anywhere.

Layton: You'll see in a minute, Luke.

Amelia: It was you who shouted out the ship's name and yet you still don't get it?

Layton: Excuse me, Miss...

Amelia: Amelia.

Layton: Amelia, how did you come to be at the theatre tonight?

Marco: Yes, a schoolgirl like you couldn't afford a ticket like that. It costs a small fortune.

Oscar: Amelia didn't buy her ticket. She was invited. Sadly, I lost my daughter who loved music. I wanted to give a young girl the opportunity to hear my new opera in her place. Of course, she has to be as talented as my daughter. I searched far and wide to find the right person. And I invited this special young girl. She is very talented. You see, Amelia is a British chess champion.

[meanwhile, in the other lifeboat]

Frederick: Just twelve of us left now. Well... Seems like this competition shouldn't go on too much longer before I claim my prize.

Celia: You're very sure of yourself. Which is a shame seeing as I am going to win. I shall remain beautiful for all of time. [gets annoyed by Pierre ignoring her]

Annie: This is almost an exact copy of a scene in my book. Murder on the Thames. As the hero is fleeing the ho-

Celia: [over Annie's talking] Oh my. Can it really be? Wait, are you Annie Dretche? The mystery writer?!

Annie: Well, how flattering. It seems my work is known even amongst London's super rich celebrities. I am honored, Mrs. Raidley. I've seen you in the gossip magazines.

Curtis: Well, well. Aren't I a lucky fellow to be in a boat with all these famous people.

Annie: It gets better, that eccentric gentleman is Mr. Frederick Bargland, president of the "World Fleet" corporation. And over there a football legend, the man with the golden left leg.

Curtis: Pierre Starbuck? I thought your left leg looked familiar.

Pierre: Golden left leg? Here's what's left of it? [shows a scared leg to everyone's surprise] I need eternal life if I am ever to get my strength back.

[back with Layton, he looks at the little girl who refuses to talk]

Oscar: She's a bit shy.

Layton: Mr. Whistler, is it true that this girl came back to life? Reborn as Melina.

Oscar: Where did you hear that? [looks at Janice] Nonsense. I adopted this girl. I only call her Melina as a sign of affection.

Janice: But-

Oscar: It makes me happy that you wish Melina was still with us. But... she's gone. I decided to carry on composing for her sake. When that man asked me to write an opera, I agree to do this for Melina, to play for my daughter's memories. But I never expected this.

Luke: [tries to stand up as he finally notices the ship's crown-like appearance, but falls] Professor, the ship! It was the biggest crown all along!

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen in the boats, my congratulations. You've come one step closer to eternal life.

[high-speed motors come out of the two lifeboats]

Luke: Professor.

Voice: [hand bars surround the lifeboats] Now sit back. Enjoy the next part of your journey.

[the lifeboats speed away from the Crown Petone; meanwhile, Grosky is still swimming towards the ship, he manages to get back on while avoiding the sharks]

Grosky: And hardly a hair out of place. Ahoy. Ahoy! Where is everyone? They cannot hide from Inspector Grosky. Justice will prevail and I-I-[explosions come out of the theatre] Huh?

[the Crown Petone is being destroyed, Grosky escapes by jumping back into the water, everyone in the lifeboats is shocked]

Luke: Professor.

Layton: [covers Luke] Janice!

[Janice covers the little girl; Grosky witnesses a submarine pass him and another going away from him; meanwhile Emmy is talking to a family outside their house]

Emmy: Have the police discovered anything about your daughter's disappearance?

Mother: [sad] No. They still don't have any leads. She is a bright girl. She wouldn't get lost. Oh, why hasn't she come home yet?

Emmy: And could I possibly see a picture of her?

Mother: Yes. [walks over to her mantle and hugs a picture frame]

Little girl: [sleeping with Janice] Nina...

[the lifeboats approach and island; we cut to a television in Dr. Andrew Schrader's apartment of a young Oscar Whistler conducting an orchestra]

Emmy: 'Dr. Schrader, does this come from Ambrosia?

Schrader: Yes... This is the only Ambrosian artefact we have ever found. It's a priceless treasure. Man has always dreamt of eternal life. Even today, with our technologies and medicines, We must all face death one day. That is nature's unchanging law. But of course, people have long sought a way to escape that fate.

Emmy: Doctor, do you believe Ambrosia still exists even now?

Schrader: I certainly hope so. Even if the elixir of life is just a legend, Ambrosia would be a great discovery. There are many people who want to study it in person. [notices the television after Emmy]

Newscaster on television: And we have some frightening news. Early this morning, a submarine came across bearing a number of the missing audience members from the Crown Petone, [the television shows that the contestants who lost the game had arrived unharmed on a beach in one of the submarines] the theatre which vanished last night. Singer, Janice Quatlane, and composer, Oswald Whistler, are amongst those still missing. Survivors are reporting that they were all part of a bizarre game that had promised them eternal life. Search parties-

Emmy: [grabs some papers and leaves] I have to go.

Schrader: But Emmy!

Newscaster on television:-finding the missing people. We shall keep you posted with any development as of when they happen.

Schrader: Dear dear...

[the lifeboats had arrived on the island]

Frederick: Where are we now?

Curtis: It appears to be totally deserted.

Marco: [sees rock with marking on it] Look there! Is it? It is! I am sure of it. This is Ambrosia!

Frederick: Ambrosia you say...

Marco: [brings out journal] Or at least, this is where Ambrosia once was. I am Marco Brock, and I am an amateur historian. For years now, I have spent my time compiling the scrap book on the eternal kingdom of Ambrosia.

Pierre: You collected that?

Celia: [sarcastic] Oh good, a history geek.

Marco: Yes. This is the famous Ambrosian seal.

Layton: It certainly looks like the seal. I saw it once at Dr Schröder's house.

Marco: I am actually here. My dream has come true.

Curtis: Yes. If this really is Ambrosia... our dreams will be realized. The legend of eternal life.

Frederick: Does this mean... the elixir of eternal life could be nearby.

Celia: [sees something and gasps] What's that there?

[on the beach there is a fancy table with fruit, sandwiches, and drinks]

Pierre: A feast?

Celia: A note

Luke: "A reward for those left in the game".

Frederick: Wine, eh? Good. I am simply dying of thirst.

Curtis: Well, I for one want my reward.

Amelia: A reward or a new puzzle perhaps?

[everyone is shocked by what Amelia said, Frederick overflows his drink causing it to spill; the little girl eats one of the fruits]

Frederick: I don't care. I'm going to eat.

[everyone digs in]

Luke: This is good.

Janice: Really good.

[Later, everyone is all around the beach]

Janice: This game, this island... Eating outside on the beach... Watching the seashore here with you, Professor... It feels like a dream.

Layton: Yes, these are the perfect surroundings. They even have puzzles and ruins for us to examine.

Janice: [laughs] Puzzles and ruins. Of course, puzzles and ruins are more romantic for you.

[Meanwhile, Luke is prodding round the beach in search for shells. The little girl, who is near by, is doing the same. Luke spies the lonely little girl and approaches, shell in hand]

Luke: Here!

Little Girl: *shy* Mmm...

Luke: Oh... [Luke brings the shell to his ear]

Luke: If you put it to your ear like this, you can hear the sea. Except...it never really works for me.

Little Girl: I can hear it...

Luke: You can?

Little Girl: *hums softly to an incomplete tune*

Luke: That's pretty music!

Little Girl: The sea taught it to me.

Luke: The sea?

[At that moment, the distant sounds of wolves howling is heard. Turning back, Luke sees his friend has vanished]

Luke: Did you hear...? Hey!

[looking out across the beach, Luke sees Oscar sitting on a rock nearby, and rushes over]

Luke: Mr. Whistler! Melina's disappeared!

Oscar: She's just gone off playing somewhere. Don't worry. She'll be back soon.

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen, your little break is over.

[Oscar and Luke see the wolves come out of the forest and get scared]

Luke: Professor! Wolves!

[Layton and Janice hear him and are surprised]

Voice: Now that you've eaten, you can be dessert for the wolves. [laughs]

Curtis: Hurry, run!

[Everyone except Janice, Layton and Luke run on ahead. Luke looks determined and makes growling noise to try and reasons with the wolves, but they don't seem to listen]

Luke: Something is wrong. They don't seem to understand me.

Layton: Someone is controlling them. Janice, Luke, let's run!

Luke: OK!

Janice: Let's go.

[the wolves chase them into the forest]

Annie: I am not built for running.

Frederick: Then stay here. That will be one less competitor.

Curtis: Look, a river!

[they make it to a river, soon the other three catch up]

Marco: What's that? [sees a strange looking castle in the distance] A castle? Here?

Voice: Puzzle No. 003. You must cross this river and reach the castle you see before you.

Luke: Professor...

Layton: First we have to deal with the wolves.

Frederick: Won't they ever give up?

Luke: Professor, look!

[there are three large cages hanging from the trees, each connected to a rope and pulley]

Layton: Cages. [goes into deep thought again, thinking about the wolves, river, cages, and castle until...] I've got it, Luke! Come on. Those cages will get us out of danger.

[Layton, Luke, and Janice go to the tree in the middle. Oscar, Annie, Frederick, and Curtis go the tree on the right. Amelia, Pierre, Celia, and Marco go the tree on the left.]

Frederick: Come on then, you silly wolves!

[Layton, Luke, and Janice go the space under the cages]

Pierre: Ready?

Amelia: [watches Layton and realizes...] Wait! Over here!

[She does what the other three did and the three who are with her do the same]

Frederick: Now, drop it!

[all three cages drop at the same time; the wolves avoid the right cage but the other two trap the other competitors]

Oscar: Oh dear. [he climbs on top of the empty cage with Frederick, Annie and Curtis to avoid the wolves]

Celia: Oh super. Now we're the ones who are trapped.

Amelia: No, this is the right answer.

Pierre: She is right.

Layton, Luke, and Janice: One, two... One, two...

Celia: Ridiculous.

Layton: It was easier to place ourselves in the cages than to trap the wolves inside of them. That solved part of our problem, Luke.

Luke: What do we do next, Professor?

Marco: It might be ridiculous, but it works. [they pick up the cage] We all have to move together.

Amelia, Pierre, Celia, and Marco: One, two... One, two... [they start moving] One, two...

[Oscar, Annie, Frederick, and Curtis are deeply surprised at this]

Celia: This Professor Layton, or whoever he is, might actually have some brains under that hat after all.

[Suddenly, Layton, Luke, and Janice trip, knocking the cage they were holding over. Seeing this, the wolves leave the four on top of the third cage and chase them]

Luke: Professor, they have seen us!

Layton: Let's go!

Luke: Not more running, Professor.

Layton: Even a true gentleman needs to get some exercise.

[As they go into the woods, the four walking with the cage make their way across a bridge. Oscar, Annie, Frederick, and Curtis get surrounded by the same masked men from the Crown Petone, meaning they lost.]

Layton: Into that cabin!

Luke: Right!

Layton: Quickly, inside!

Luke: Janice!

[The three head inside and Layton locks the door. Inside are a series of tools]

Layton: How interesting. It would appear our deserted island is inhabited after all. [Thinking about the propeller, chainsaw, barrel, bucket and two oars that are inside, he gets an idea]

Luke: Professor, how are we gonna reach that castle?

Layton: I think I have found us a way to get there

Luke: Great. We can help.

[they build a helicopter]

Layton: [when it's done] There it is. Let her go!

Luke: Wait, professor.

Layton: Hang on!

[They fly the helicopter out from the roof of the cabin and fly towards the castle.

Luke: So professor, we have built ourselves a helicoptor.

Layton: That was the idea.

Luke: Faster, Professor! The wolves are catching us!

Layton: This is as fast as it goes, I'm afraid.

Janice: This is like flying on a giant grasshopper!

Luke: Don't you worry, Janice. You can hang on to me if you are scared.

Janice: No. I am not scared. This is great fun.

Luke: Whoa! This is fun?!

Janice: Yeah!

Luke: Look! There is the castle, Professor.

Layton: I'll try to land somewhere. [the two grab onto the professor] Hang on tight. But not to the pilot!

[the helicopter crashes at the base of the castle, somebody watches him on a screen]

???: Welcome to my castle, Professor. [pushes a button and speaks revealing he is the voice] Ladies and gentlemen, please assemble at the courtyard.

[the remaining competitors meet together in an area with four doors leading to four walkways]

Pierre: So you made it. And I thought you have been turned into tasty wolf dessert.

[Luke gets angry and prepares to charge, but Layton stops him]

Layton: Luke...

???: Let's now proceed to Puzzle No. 004. As you can see, there are four doors leading to four towers. Now look at the courtyard.

Luke: [sees large tiles between each of the doors] Professor, there are letters here!

???: One of these four towers contains the king's chamber. Find the door that leads into the king's chamber, and when you do, enter that tower.

Celia: H, I, K, G. Ugh, I have no idea. [looks at Layton and smiles]

Pierre: Just a door between us and eternal life.

Marco: King tower? King?

Luke: I've got it, Professor! I am certain of it! 'K', 'I', 'N', 'G', spells 'king', so put 'I', 'N', between 'K' and 'G', and so, we have to go 'IN' the door between them!

Janice: That's brilliant, Luke!

Layton: Luke, will you be alright by yourself for a while? [Luke is deeply surprised] There is something I have to check.

Luke: But, uh...

Layton: I don't think this game is about eternal life after all.

[he goes through another door while Luke, Janice, Amelia and Marco go through the correct door, Celia and Pierre follow Layton]

Celia: That's right, Mr. Professor Layton. Why don't you lead us straight to the answer?

[Layton enters the tower at the end of the walkway, Pierre shoves him out of the way and walks to the center with Celia]

Layton: Don't go. Come back. Wait! [a trapdoor opens up below them, Celia and Pierre fall but Layton manages to hang on to the side] Just wait there. We will come back for you.

[the four remaining competitors enter a fancy bedroom]

Janice: The Professor...

Luke: Don't worry, Janice. The Professor will come back.

[iron bars drop down in front of them and the door]

Marco: What's going on? We had the right answer!

[out from the window balcony, a familiar man enters the room]

Luke: It's you!

Janice: Luke, do you know him?

Marco: Who are you?

Descole: I am Jean Descole. A humble scientist and your host on this island. And now... our little game has almost come to an end.

Marco: But what is all this? Which one of us gets eternal life?

Luke: What are you going to do to us, Descole?

Descole: Bring Miss Amelia to me.

Amelia: But... Why me? [his guard begin to take her away]

Luke: Hey! What do you want with her?

Amelia: Leave me alone!

Janice: No! [a guard pushes her]

Luke: [catching her] Janice!

[Meanwhile, Emmy is flying a plane over the ocean, when she sees something through her binoculars]

Grosky: [waving a flag of his clothes on a raft] Ahoy! I'm down here! I'm down here! [the plane passes him knocking him into the water; later, Grosky is with her drying his clothes on the plane] Ah, now I see. Those submarines that passed me were really lifeboats.

Emmy: Yes and with the missing audience from the Crown Petone aboard them. Most of them anyway.

Grosky: But you say only one arrived? I'm sure I saw two submarines escape the ship.

Emmy: Two?

Grosky: Two? Yes, the other one headed out to sea.

Emmy: Of course. Hold on!

[Layton is exploring another part of the castle, he enters a bedroom with a grand piano]

Layton: So, this is where she lived. [On the piano was a picture of Janie and Melanie and sheet music with a title] A Song of the Sea? [goes out on the balcony] Ah... what a wonderful view. [someone suddenly approaches him from behind] You're the person I came to see, Melina.

Little girl: [surprised and annoyed] You... you mustn't interfere. [runs to the door but stops by Layton playing the piano for a bit]

Layton: How long have you been living here?

Little girl: I was- I was very ill. My father brought me here. He thought the air would be good for me. That's why I'm so much better.

Layton: Better? Why would you be better? You told Janice you had been reborn with the gift of eternal life.

Little girl: I was... I was reborn. I was ill. I died and then I... [something is inside of her] I didn't die! He is not my daddy! He brought me here. He didn't. Quiet. He will find out. But...

Layton: Melina.

Little girl: I am not Melina. Yes, I am. No! I want to go home! Stop it! Stop it!

Layton: Huh? [thinks back to all the times of the little girl, and then realizes something] Of course.

[In another part of the castle, the guards are leading Luke, Janice and Marco through a hallway. The two children make their plan, Luke fakes a heart attack causing the guard to stop in shock, allowing Janice to knock him to the ground.]

Janice: This way!

Luke: Right!

[Marco is too shocked to say anything, he tries to back away but guards surround him]

Marco: [as he's being tackled off-screen] All right, all right! No, not my scrap book!

[guards end up on both sides of Luke and Janice]

Luke: I'll protect you from them, Janice!

Janice: [gasps] Luke!

[Luke tries to fight back, but a guard holds him back and throws him, someone catches him]

Luke: Emmy?

Emmy: Sorry I'm late, second assistant!

Luke: [annoyed] Apprentice no. 1!

Grosky: [appears] I'm Grosky of the Yard and you're all under arrest!

Emmy and Grosky easily fight off the guards, though Emmy is more impressive than Grosky; just then, Layton and the little girl arrived]

Layton: Are you alright?

Luke: Professor!

Janice: Professor Layton!

Emmy: Nina!

Luke: ... Nina?

Emmy: Your mommy and daddy sent me.

Nina: Can I go home now?

Emmy: Yes. They are frightfully worried. They miss you.

Luke: Professor, Descole has Amelia!

Layton: I know. Janice, let's finish this.

Janice: ... Yes.

[The scene skips over to some sort of large control room, where Whistler is running his hands over the Detragon, gazing at the framed photo of his daughter Melina]

Whistler: Have we...finally come to an end?

Descole: Everything is going to plan as I told you it would.

Whistler: You kidnapped people! You sold all those tickets! That's no plan!

Descole: *smirks and chuckles slightly* Well, that was my plan...

Amelia: Mr. Whistler! So, you're involved in all of this.

Whistler: Come, come, Amelia. Everything's okay.

Amelia: Where are the others? Why am I here alone?

Whistler: Because you are the winner. You will receive eternal life!

Amelia: What is this?

Whistler: The Detragan. We brought it from the ship. This beautiful instrument does not just play music, Amelia. It will also give the gift you crave of eternal life. And it was me who created it. Quickly, Amelia. This way.

Amelia: Wait! But I don't want eternal life. I want to give it to my grandad. He only has a month to live. He should be here. He has to drink the elixir of life.

Whistler: There is no elixir.

Amelia: Leave me alone! Let me go! Let me go! Please, don't! Please, Mr. Whistler!

Layton: [arrives with everyone else] Enough! Are you OK? Mr. Whistler, I have deduced, you never intended to give eternal life to the winner. On the contrary, you were intending to steal their life. Take it away from them.

Whistler: That is just not true.

Layton: I've finally discovered the truth... the awful truth behind this game.

Luke: Uh, what is it, Professor?

Layton: One year ago, when Melina was dying--or rather, because she was dying--you put a vast sum of money into building this... Detragan. Assisting you was the scientist, Jean Descole.

Descole: Hmph.

Layton: But the Detragan is no ordinary instrument. It is a machine that can copy a person's personality--their memory--all into another person's brain!

Luke: What!?

Grosky: A copy? Is that possible?

Layton: Unfortunately, the results weren't perfect.

Grosky: Huh?

Layton: The person's real personality--their memories--would force the copy back out of their mind. Nina here showed me that.

Layton: (to Nina) Tell me again, that person you were talking to before?

Nina: Mm! I-It was Melina! But she's gone now...

Layton: You knew Nina's memories were returning, that Melina would be lost. Without another host, you needed a subject with a brain that would accept Melina. That is why you invited gifted young girls like Amelia. I'm sure the Game for Eternal Life was Descole's idea. So, all you wished was to copy Melina's memory... to keep her alive, forever.

Descole: Very impressive, Layton. When did you realize I was involved?

Layton: I suspected it for a while, and my suspicions were confirmed when I saw this gloomy castle. Then I knew it must be you orchestrating this plot... Descole!

Descole: [snickers]

(Whistler, behind Luke, swats Luke's hat off his head and places the memory-transferring helmet on Luke's head.)

Whistler: This one... will have to do!

Whistler: I can't let her memories fade! There's no time! No time!

Luke: No!

(Whistler pulls the lever. Luke screams... but nothing happens. Whistler notices that the key to the Detragan is missing)

Whistler: Who took the key!? Who took it!? Layton, was it you!? Give it back! The Detragan can't hold her memories for much longer! She'll disappear forever!

Layton: Please, calm yourself. I know who has the key.

Layton: That person holds the key to the Detragan, and to explain all the mysteries in this case. They know everything you've done.

Whistler: Who is it!?

Layton: You haven't guessed? They hid themselves carefully, to save you from your mistakes.

Luke: So, who is it, then, Professor?

Layton: It is you!

(Layton points at Janice, who has the key to the Detragan in her left hand.)

Luke: Wha-? J-Janice?

[Descole, Whistler, and Grosky were surprised]

Layton: I think it is time to tell us everything, Janice. Or should I say... Melina!

Melina: [in Janice's body] ... You are right. I am Melina. [Whistler gasps] You thought putting my memories into Janice had failed but it hadn't. Janice allowed me to stay here to my very great surprise. [during a flashback, Whistler leaves when it looked like the Detragan wasn't work, but then it did] She buried her personality voluntarily, so that I could act in her place. [Melina, in Janice's body, enjoys life again at the market, eating ice cream, and petting someone's dog] I had been ill for so long... Now, I could walk, and dance, and sing.

Whistler: Then, I didn't need anyone else.

Descole: [claps] Congratulations, Whistler. We've accomplished our objective.

Melina: As the time went by, I came to realize how wrong this is. [she briefly appears in Janice's place] I can't steal another's life so I could live my own.

Layton: So, you sent me that letter?

Melina: Yes. Janice told me you were the right man, Professor. You were the only hope of stopping my father. No. I-I can't take other people's lives. But I knew while father had that machine, that he would never let me go.

Whistler: Melina...

Melina: Janice has told me so many great things about you, Professor. She is very, very fond of you indeed.

[several scenes from the movies that have Janice in them are shown with Melina in her place.

Whistler: Melina, all I did... It was all for you!

Melina: Thank you, father. Thank you for your love. But please. This all has to stop.

Whistler: How could I possibly keep on living without you here with me? Tell me.

[Suddenly, there is a rumbling sound]

Luke: Professor! The roof!

[the roof opens up]

Whistler: What the? [Descole swoops in a carry Melina to the Detragan] Melina!

[the wolves surround everyone]

Layton: What are you doing? Descole!

Descole: I'm afraid I need this young lady's voice if I'm to accomplish my real goal here.

Layton: What are you planning?

Descole: [points upwards] To bring Ambrosia back to life. [everyone gasps] The legend of Ambrosia is famous, but it was I who discovered the complete seal. Layton--do you know what the lines around that symbol mean?

Layton: [images flash in Layton's mind and he realizes...] They're music.

Descole: That is correct. Ambrosian music. That seal is the first key to unlocking Ambrosia. It is A Song of the Stars.

Luke: Of the Stars?

Descole: The second key is you, Melina.

Melina: What? How can I be a key?

Descole: The Ambrosian seal hides not one key, but two of them. Two songs that resonate in perfect harmony: A Song of the Stars and the Sea.

Layton: A Song of the Sea...

Descole: When two songs are played together here, Ambrosia will rise once more.

Whistler: How could I not see it? All he ever wanted was the Ambrosia Kingdom!

Descole: But just as I cracked the code, the one person who knew a Song of the Sea--the other key I needed--could no longer sing it. But her memories remained. All I needed... was someone to bring those memories alive! [creates a hole in the wall, taking Melina and the Detragan outside]

Luke: Janice! [runs after them but gets attacked by a wolf]

Layton: Luke! [more wolves block his and Emmy's path]

Emmy: Watch out, Professor.

Melina: Stop it!

Descole: You must sing if you want to save them, Melina. [the machine reaches its highest point] This is your farewell performance. [starts playing a Song of the Stars] Sing, Melina! Sing a Song of the Sea! Sing, Melina!

[Seeing the wolves, Melina sings a Song of the Sea. Emmy and Layton managed to free the wolves from Descole's control]

Layton: [to Luke] Are you alright?

Descole: Ambrosia... will rise again!

Layton: [seeing the building crumbling] Run everyone. Run! Luke!

Luke: Yes!

Emmy: Professor!

[Layton and Luke managed to reach the other side before the floor collapses. Descole frowns when he sees that Ambrosia has not risen.]

Descole: Huh? Why? Why won't it rise!? Again! Sing it! Sing!

[Melina sings again, Layton looks at the symbol upside down and has an epiphany]

Layton: Of course.

Descole: [slams the keys in anger] Why? Why? Why!? [laughs manically while Melina looks at him worriedly.] Well, if the door to Ambrosia will not open by this music... I WILL TEAR IT DOWN!!!

[Descole slams on the Detragan's organ keys once more. Compartments from either side of the organ keys open up, revealing panels with several levers. Descole violently pulls the levers; the Detragan begins to glow a purplish-white light, as well as the entire castle. The castle instantaneously crumbles to nothing; from out of the rubble a monstrous robot rises. Layton and company run down a staircase as the castle's rubble rains down on them.]

Grosky: What is that thing?

Emmy: It's terrible!

Luke: What's Descole trying to do?

[The violent shaking causes Melina to lose balance and fall onto a large wire. The giant robot stands up straight. The Detragan glows brightly. Descole grins as his cape billows in the wind.]

Descole: Ambrosia... SHALL BE MINE!!!

[The robot jumps off of the foundation of the castle and into the lake below, causing a large wave. The robot marches towards the forest while Layton and company watch.]

Whistler: Melina... MELINA!

Emmy: Mr. Whistler!
