I ran my fingers through my hair, trying to stay awake.

'Sarah? Are you still up?' asked my father, Hershel Layton.

'Might be.' I said, tapping away on my keyboard, my eyes glued to my computer screen.

'Go to bed Sarah.' he said, looking in. 'It's one in the morning.'

'Alright Father.' I said.

He left, but no sooner then I was back on the computer. I was searching for someone. I smiled as I found him.

Jean Descole.

The next morning, I slung my bag on my back.

'Off out!' I called.

'Be careful!' called my father.

'Will be!'

I went out the door, and headed off.

'I hate maps.' I muttered about half an hour later, turning it round, and then again.

I looked round and set off.

'Dam it, I never thought he would be this far away.' I said once night had fallen.

It was 11pm and I was still nowhere near to reaching Jean. I took my back off, and slid down onto the concrete pavement. I just wanted to cry, but it had been a year since I had done that. I wasn't planning on doing right now. All I could do was try get some sleep and hope my father didn't come along during the night and take me back.

I woke up. Judging by Big Ben, it was just 2 in the morning, I could hear movement, and I felt arms wrap round me, picking me up. First thought; oh crap it's father. Second thought; hang on, this guy isn't father. Third thought; Holy smokes I'm being kidnapped by some random stranger. Fourth Thought; SHUT UP BRAIN!

While my brain was filling with all these thoughts, which began to lead to cheese, not sure how, the man was carrying me somewhere. This whole thing seemed familiar. I opened one eye, and saw a man, in a white mask.

'Oh, Hello.' I whispered. 'Remind me again, who are you?'

The man chuckled.

'It's me, Jean.' he said, in a strong, deep yet reassuring voice, that was very familiar.

'Who'd of guessed?' I replied.

He got back into his carriage, still holding me. He stroked my hair, while holding me close.

'I am never going to loose you again.
